I have the medium strength version. It is light-weight and semi-translucent with a softly textured matt surface. It measures approximately 6 x 4cm and is the same size as a large chicken egg. Fits comfortably in the palm with the narrow part pointing in the same direction as the thumb. Gripping the whole egg with the arm in a right-angle to v-shaped position gently exercises the wrist, forearm, and biceps. Each finger can also be exercised by pressing the egg between the thumb and 1 finger. Great to warm up the hands and I also use it occasionally during a quick break from computer work. Convenient washable design, so I will be ordering an additional one for the office.

This is great...the material is really pliable so you can really work your wrist/hand etc. Only problem with it is the egg shape which is too small for my hand (to be fair, only by a little). Add some rubber bands around your finger tips to exercise the wrist extension (i.e. opposite motion to the gripper) and you'll rehab an injury in no time!

The eggs do exactly what I'd hoped they would. They seem to be far more effective for building the wrists and forearms, than most other products of same price range.

The `Gripmaster Finger Exerciser' is an excellent piece of equipment that can help a wide range of problems, as well as helping with finger strength in general. This is ergonomically designed so it fits into your hand easily and I have found it doesn't slip or move around, like cheaper copies I have seen. This uses springs for tension and comes in a range of different strengths. I recommend you start off light and build up, I went for the red (medium) grip at first and although it is useable, it was hard work. This comes with a small booklet describing various exercises you can do and after using this for just a few minutes each day you will quickly see results. This is great for accident rehabilitation, climbers, musicians and a whole other range of activities where finger strength is a must. If you like this I also highly recommend a Powerball which is fantastic for wrist and forearm strength and which is addictive to use. All in all, this is a simple but effective piece of exercise equipment.

The holes in the rubber band are far too small therefore painful which restricts exercise time. Used only for a few days the rubber is now splitting, item being returned. Probably OK for very small hands. Yes I was using the large one provided! There are two sizes provided small and extra small in my opinion.

I've bought one of the alternative egg shaped one's as well, which I find to be a much better type of material to squeeze...this one isn't very pliabe, which means it fatiques my hand much more quickly - which results in poor work-out/conditioning etc. However, the rubber band type contraption that you put your fingers through (my hands are about medium/large and even they're a bit tight) is a great idea, previously I'd just used normal rubber bands to strengthen hand/wrist extension. The ideal solution would be drill a hole in the other squeezy one and use the rubber bands from this one!!

I think this treatment for hand weakness works well. the only downside for me. the finger straps are very tight on my large hands and cut in to my fingers, so i'm unable to uses for more than ten minutes at a time.

This is a pretty nice piece of equipment, that will be effective for most people.

The only possible problem is that the 11b finger pull will likely not be enough if you are considering using these for genuinely serious use (weight-training, power-lifting, climbing etc.), which is what these are supposedly aimed at.

So unless they make a significantly harder set you'll probably only really use them to warm up before moving onto stronger grippers or other grip building exercises.

Which is a shame as they do a very good job of exercising your whole grip (including pinky), and so there must be a market for say 15lb and 20lb versions of these.

Having done various training exercises and used various techniques to improve grip strength over the years, these really work. Be aware they do come in different strengths this being the strongest,it fits neatly in the hand and has the option of full hand grip or work through idividual finger grips unlike a lot of other handgrips. Also unlike the usual handgrips it strays in the hand and doesn't twist out of your hand when they get sweaty. You can fit it in your back pocket and one grip works for both hands so take it anywhere if you so desire,work hard and improve your grip a well designed and worth while purchase.

Convinced by previous reviewers I decided to buy the extra strong version, but when the grips first arrived I was a little disappointed at how difficult they were. After a few attempts they started to loosen up so no problem there. These things are great for strengthening forearms, even better than the Powerball which I rave about. Loses a star for the incredibly irritating noise.

Got these as an exercise to do while watching TV, and were great for a few weeks, but after that they started to squeak every time they were used. This was very annoying when used while using them.

They do the job they were made for so would be fine if you don't mind the squeaking!

I have my powerball for a couple of years now. I must say it's an excellent work-out tool.
Not only that, it's low impact and you can make the excercises as mild or as tough as you like!
The LED lights keeps this thing interesting because the harder you spin it the brighter it gets.
So if you're a bit competetive you try to let it shine brighter each time you use it.
As a bonus side effect it prevents RSI or any strain injury, it does the blood circulation a world of good,
and gets the muscles really warmed up before sports. It doesn't only train your hand and arm, holding it in different angles it also trains you shoulders, deltoids, and some of the muscles indirectly in the back and side area. (best to stand up straight for that.)
While standing straight you also indirectly train your balance if you train with a stretched out arm, either sideways or infront of you. The downsides are: tough to really get it spinning the first few times, the start string gets lost easily, almost impossible to start without the string, doesn't come with a wrist strap so when you first start working the ball be sure to have a tight grip on it or you will lose a window! You can easily get it to spin to heavy if you use it for the first couple of times, making the excercise way to tough at first, for that you need to spend some time to gain control of the ball. All in all when you get the hang of it it's fun and easy to do and it only takes 5 to 10 minutes a day to get really good results. All the gear at the local gym to get those arm muscles in shape are a waste of time and money compared to this little plastic gyroscopic ball. This trains your muscles in a fraction of the costs of a gym subscription! I love my power ball and I'll buy a new one if my old one breaks!

Just got this recently for everyone in my family to use.
It's a little difficult to get it to rotate properly at first, but once you get it right, it's great and you can really feel the resistance.
The one thing I would complain about is that I find it a bit big, and I would think a lot of women will, to comfortably hold when the rotor really gets going.

I have been suffering from RSI for over two years and it has been increasingly more painful in recent times. I was being kept awake at night with the aching and burning in my hands, wrists, elbows and shoulders...that is until I got the Powerball. After just 5-10minutes of exercise a day, I have seen a hugely significant improvement in my symptoms. My wrists have gone from struggling to hold a cup of coffee to being strong again. Anyone who is suffering from RSI should not hesitate in using this product. I have purchased one for the office and one for home and it is worth every penny. I should stress however that the most significant improvement has been in my wrists, elbows and shoulders as opposed to fingers. While it is not a 100% cure, those with RSI will know that any respite as significant as this will be welcome.

The POWERbreathe plus devices come in a range of resistances and it can be difficult to gauge which one is right for you. I did some research on the Powerbreathe web site and found out that there are essentially three products in the PowerBreathe Plus range. The one with the lowest resistance is the green `Wellness' product. Medium resistance is obtained from the blue `Fitness' model and the maximum resistance is from the red `Sports' device.

I'm a runner and have previously struggled to understand what it is that prevents me from improving on my race times. I plumped for the red POWERBreathe Sports model to help with my lung capacity.

The product is well made and professionally packaged. It comes with complete instructions, a CD, a black carry bag, a nose clip and a small sample of sterilising tablets. I think that I've probably made the correct decision by selecting the red Sports model. Set at the lowest resistance it is already works the muscles of the diaphragm without being excessively difficult and with plenty of scope for adjusting it to a much greater resistance.

After three weeks of use I've made it to about a third of the way up the resistance range, so plenty to go at yet. I can really feel the difference and the improvement in my breathing capacity. I can also measure the day-on-day improvement as I move up the resistance scale.

The POWERBreathe is really easy to keep clean; it can be washed and rinsed easily and quickly. It comes apart and is re-assembled easily. You could also buy any baby sterilising tablets to keep it clean in the long term.

On higher resistance settings it is hard work, like other reviewers my ears can pop, but I suspect that this simply means that the resistance is too high and this seems to stop if I move it down a little.

So, has it improved my race times? Well no, not so you'd notice. Breathing does seem to be easier and I do note some improvement with breathing efficiency, but this doesn't translate into better race times. I have however noticed an improvement in my swimming; I can really get that air into the lungs much quicker than I could.

So in conclusion. The POWERBreathe is well made and does exactly what it says it does. It takes very little time (<5 minutes per day) to complete the exercise, is easily cleaned and you really will feel the difference. The claims for it improving sports performance are less easily substantiated and the jury remains out on whether this was a wise buy.

I chose the red version. As an averagely fit amature I am still close to the bottom of the adjustment scale, so now wonder if the next model down might have been more appropriate. The device is well made and the DVD has a useful instruction section. The rest of the DVD is a bit tedious though. A bit pricey for what it it, but I guess you are paying for the design, which is novel.

I have never dropped it or mistreated it in any way but for some reason now it will not go any longer, there seems to be no reason for this, its just packed in so I am a bit disappointed in it at this stage.

This is great...the material is really pliable so you can really work your wrist/hand etc. Only problem with it is the egg shape which is too small for my hand (to be fair, only by a little). Add some rubber bands around your finger tips to exercise the wrist extension (i.e. opposite motion to the gripper) and you'll rehab an injury in no time!

The eggs do exactly what I'd hoped they would. They seem to be far more effective for building the wrists and forearms, than most other products of same price range.

This is essentially just a egg shaped rubber ball that you squeeze. I bought the 'strong' ball but was actually a bit surprised to find it slightly easier to squeeze than i anticipated. It is about the size of a big egg and for my hand size i felt it was slightly too small as it is actually quite difficult to involve all the fingers in a single squeeze.
I do actually wonder whether just buying a tennis ball and squeezing that would not have much the same effect, but if you have small hands perhaps this may be the best option.

and rather than the other two reviews I couldn't disagree more. I've got one of these and it's a great bit of kit. I can only imagine that they bashed the counter around to break it. It's only an LCD screen. I've used this for a week now and I haven't found anything that's as good for focused exercise of the grip, wrist and forearm. Well there is the powerball, but it's the same thing, just more expensive!

I was recommended this by a friend that is a golfer and squash player and would recommend it to anyone how needs to improve grip or forearm strength. For therapy or a real workout, at this price I can't see you being disappointed. Just take care of the digital counter.

I'm on my second Strength Ball. The first one was broken by my little brother; I don't know how he did it but but I came home one day to find the thing snapped in half. And the one I have now has a broken LCD screen even though I have no idea what I did to it and there are no visible signs of damage.
The Strength Ball is not as durable as, not as good looking as, of a poorer quality than and cannot go anywhere near as fast as a Powerball. The only reason I never got a Powerball instead was because I was too young at the time to purchase online.

I had no idea what a Strength Ball was until someone gave it to me as a present and as soon as I started playing with it I was hooked. To put it simply it is a ball within a ball. The whole thing is about the size of a tennis ball. You start the interior ball rolling with a piece of string and thereafter the aim is to keep it rolling by holding the Strength Ball and moving your wrist around. Sound boring? Then give it a go and see what you think. I think you'll find it strangely addictive. Not everyone picks it up as easily as me but then I am a natural at most things ;-) I really wish I could end the review there, but unfortunately the digital display broke after one day of ownership which is obviously not good enough. So I agree with the other reviewers. It's a superb toy, good exercise and very addictive BUT it is very poorly made. Go for the superior Power Ball instead.

As the title suggests it was difficult to work out how to get the damn thing going. I tugged the string and twisted my wrist with the versatility of a contortionist for about half an hour. I all but gave up hope once I realised that there were no instructions included in the box. I visited the website, read a few paragraphs and had the ball rotating within seconds. I've not put it down much since. My forearms are stronger, as are my fingers. My wrist feels tighter and less fragile than before. All this after just four days.
Bottom line, even if you're sceptical - buy it. You'll love it.

Buy it for simple endurance training, if you wish to see how well you go buy Pro Powerball series, they have monitors on top of them, which make them harder to grip but tells you how well your doing.

Its best to play with a regular first, after all you'll get bored of these things eventually - saving your money.

The powerball does what it's supposed to and I'm happy with that.
There are a couple of negative points about it though.

My model includes the counter but it has on 2 or 3 occassions lost its 'highest score' value.
This might be because I'm accidentally pressing the button while spining it but even so this is a design fault.

My biggest gripe is with the support. Or rather lack of it!
The ball comes supplied with a mini cd which can't be played on my slot loading cd drive (typicaly laptop type).
In the box there is a note saying 'see the included instructions'... there aren't any!
So I checked their website for instructions or somewhere to download whatever's on the cd... nothing
So I emailed them pointing out the lack of instructions and fact that I can't play the mini cd... no reply!

I have found by trial and error that the best way to get it started is to run it against the carpet. The official way of starting it with the cord is very frustrating and I broke the ends of it! If that was the only way to start it I would have sent it back!

All in all this is a good product that has been let down by an inability to state clearly how to use it!

I first tested one of these many, many years ago - when I was a child unable to actually get the spin going.
I finally bought one (after 15 years!) and it has been a great exercise for my arms and damaged shoulder.

My squash play is also getting better as I can hit the ball stronger and more precisely now.

Bought this item to strengthen my wrists as they are a bit weak and give me jip especially when playing golf, used the powerball over christmas 09 and played my first round in the New Year. When playing golf I noticed my arms, hands and wrists really painful and tried to think of a time over Chistmas that I must have had a fall or something, then realised it could only be the ball. Since then it has been in a cupboard but it certainly does what it says on the box and i,m sure with constant use it would be of benefit, recommend you give it a try.

The Metal powerball is brilliant.

The key points about this item are compared to the other Plastic Balls are...

- Much Heavier (this makes it harder to spin and seriously works out your arms)
- Its Metal! (this means its cold, shiny, reflective, durable and very nice)
- Counter (an extra option, how many times you've spun it)

The only slight drawbacks to this product is...

- Hard to start at first (but if you've used powerballs before you should get the hang of it)

- Its much heavier meaning if you don't have the grip or sweaty hands you're likely to drop it and damage either it or something else

- The gyro will burn you if you aren't careful meaning it's not for young ones or inexperienced users.

Overall however, i recommend this product for everyone, past powerball users this is a must. For new users, i recommend the 250Hz series before using this mighty ball.

I also suggest it generally for casual people who don't actually require it to work out, grip enhancing can be used for practically ANYTHING.

For those who are wondering what the "Gold Plated" or "Silver Plated" Powerballs are about, they are just mainly expensive collectors items. For those who want the best for their workout/toning i would suggest this metal ball as it's much heavier.

On one more note, the description mentions this ball can go up to "7000rpm". This is kinda false information, i have managed to get my powerball over that up to 10,000rpm + . Before i first bought it, i thought getting the ball beyond 7000rpm would of been impossible, i was incorrect in that assumption.

This ball is MUCH harder to use and stresses my hands out alot but it's great fun, a new challenge and really works off the muscles.

Great product, smooth running and quite a workout when you get going with it, tired me out anyway.

Ok, a bit about my background... I lift heavy weights at the gym, such as deadlifting etc, and was looking at products to improve my grip strength as that was limiting me, and I did not fancy using the grip over gloves like a poof.

I read the reviews and thought; `looks great, I'll buy it.' It arrived; I used it, got some good speed going. Kept spinning... kept spinning.... felt it in my forearms a bit but for the most part I was pretty unimpressed. Whether you're looking to build forearm strength for a stronger grip, or just bashing one out over nuts magazine, I firmly recommend you use either free weight wrist exercises, or rollers. (A roller is like a handle with a weight hanging. you have to twist the handle to move the weight upwards.) It is MUCH better than this gimmick.

Ok, don't get me wrong, it's not terrible. It is a well made product that does exercise your forearms to an extent. I just think there is better equipment out there for cheaper prices. I'm sure the hardcore amongst you will think I am not spinning it fast enough. To those I say; I'll spin you under the table any day. To those who think it is more for fun than exercise, get out more.

I've had mine since it was released. To give an idea of how far I've got, I hit 11,574 today with it. It's smoother but more intense than the plastic version for sure.

Use it enough and you'll get an odd callus on a finger or two-but that's if you use it a lot over a month.

The forearm will swell quite nicely after using it at 3/4's full effort for about a minute so it's decent exercise!

As a review, there isn't much can be said about a leather pouch so I will simply comment on the following areas:

The 'Powerball' Leather Pouch is, as the title says, a leather shaped pouch in which you place your beloved Powerball. The quality of the hide is good and the stitching is well done.

The pouch has two zips, allowing easy access and closing of your powerball. Previous reports stated that it is too tight initially. I have not found this the case. I bought 2 pouches and both are a perfect fit and require no pre-stretching or breaking in. There is a belt loop as well but I could never see myself using this. However, the option is there.

The other use I have for the pouch is to look after my powerball when I am not using it. Again, a task that the pouch fulfills excellently.

Being leather, maintainance is easy. Either use Pledge to clean and shine it or boot polish and cloth. The belt loop is handy for holding it whilst cleaning.

Additional remarks
------------------
I bought the pouch so that I could pack my powerball for various journeys, knowing that it would not get scratched or ingest fluff, water and any other foreign bodies into the gyro. The pouch meets are of my needs.

I am a person who does NO weights whatsoever, but still went for the extra strong. I'm happy I did. My wife however found them way too difficult, I think hand size may have something to do with it. However, my personal opinion is that as these are resistance springs, each time you press the springs the resistance gets than little bit weaker, so just go for the extra strong and they will last ages (in theory).

A little annoying thing is the noise, I mean I could understand a little squeak after some heavy use, but a squeak started after 5 or 6 presses! For this I removed a star as I can see this annoying the misses, which means i'm gonna get a hard time now.

Another thing, though not a complaint, is why two? I couldn't figure out the benefit, does anyone use two at the same time? I just use one whilst working on the computer or watching TV as a very causal light exercise. I know the use is self explanatory but at least a guide or something as to develop a routine would nice or something to advise how to chart your progress, but nothing came with this.

The photo shows grey and black trims, but the actual grip is black with grey trims, no big deal for me.

Convinced by previous reviewers I decided to buy the extra strong version, but when the grips first arrived I was a little disappointed at how difficult they were. After a few attempts they started to loosen up so no problem there. These things are great for strengthening forearms, even better than the Powerball which I rave about. Loses a star for the incredibly irritating noise.

For the price they are good, after a little while they start to creak while using them but some WD-40 sorts that out. Definately go for extra strong unless you know that you have a weak grip strength or if you want to be able to squeeze them for hours! This `Powerball Stressball' is NOT a gyroscope powerball, but rather it is a stress ball made in the shape of the original powerballs. If you have seen stress balls before you will know the type of material this is made of, otherwise it's best described as a dense foam material that offers some resistance, but nothing too excessive and springs back to it's original form quickly and easily. The shape of this, like the actual power balls, is easy to grasp and it fits neatly in the hand to use whilst doing your exercises. The colour is pretty garish but it will definitely be easy to find should you mislay it. There are no tricks or whistles to this stress ball, it does what it sets out to achieve with minimal fuss and is a simple, yet worthy addition to the powerball collection.
